31-Year-Old Cop Is Fighting For His Life After He Was Knocked Down By Pickup Truck Driver
Corporal Muhamad Khairul Syafiq Ahmad, who is attached to the Kulim Hi-Tech police station, was chasing the suspect on his motorcycle when the driver rammed at him. Khairul suffered serious head injuries and is unconscious.

The impact threw the 31-year-old corporal, who is attached to the Kulim Hi-Tech police station, off his motorcycle. He sustained serious injuries to his head, a report by Harian Metro stated.
The Nissan Frontier driver, who is 45, is suspected to be a fuel smuggler.
Kulim police chief Supt Redzuan Salleh said the victim was patrolling on his motorcycle when he spotted the suspect behaving suspiciously while driving the pickup truck coming from Kulim Polytechnic.
"The victim tried to get the driver to pull over, but the latter sped off, forcing the corporal to give a chase," he said, adding that to evade an arrest, the suspect knocked into the victim's motorcycle and sped off.
According to New Straits Times today, 17 July, corporal Muhamad Khairul Syafiq Ahmad is fighting for his life at the Penang Hospital after undergoing surgery. He is married and has one child.
The 45-year-old suspect continued to drive his vehicle dangerously and recklessly throughout before colliding with several other vehicles
He was eventually apprehended by a team of policemen from the Kulim district police headquarters (IPD), which received assistance from members of the Seberang Perai Tengah police station.
The suspect hails from Sungai Petani and has three criminal records.
"He was also driving under the influence of THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol) drug," Redzuan said, adding that checks on the pickup truck found that it was modified with a fuel tank in the cargo compartment.
"We believe the suspect was involved in fuel smuggling."
Meanwhile, the suspected has been remanded for six days
Kulim Sessions Court judge Mirza Mohamad granted the remand this morning, 17 July.
The case, initially under Section 42 (1) and Section 44 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous driving, has been reclassified to attempted murder under Section 307 of the Penal Code.
"For the offence of modifying a vehicle, the case is being investigated in accordance with Section 6 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987," the Kulim police chief Supt added.
