Two weeks ago, PichaEats, previously known as The Picha Project, got into contact with Abdi's father who wanted to work as a chef for the social enterprise.

The organisation, which helps refugees in Malaysia start a new life, offers catering services by chefs who cook their homeland food for corporate or private events.

Abdi's family had fled to Malaysia from Somalia in 2018.

When the Picha team visited the Somalian family for a food tasting session, they discovered that the toddler urgently needed a liver transplant but is unable to because he is not Malaysian

"Abdi is currently only depending on monthly medication and his condition restricts him from breathing normally," PichaEats co-founder Suzanne Ling wrote.

Feeling helpless, Ling contacted Dr Hartini who helped to find a doctor who can perform the surgery. However, she said that Abdi would need RM300,000 for medical fees.

Dr Hartini, who believes that every child deserves to have an equal chance in life, is currently leading the fundraiser under Yayasan Chow Kit.

I am asking for your help to help this boy. He's not my child, but he is a child and he deserves a chance to live.
