A random urine test left 14 policemen red-faced when they tested positive for drugs while participating in a course to enhance integrity.

"They were among the 100 policemen chosen at random to undergo the drug test on Monday night," he told reporters after flagging-off the Perak Community Motorcycle Traffic programme here Tuesday.

The rank-and-file personnel were attending the two-day course at Ulu Kenas, in Kuala Kangsar, Perak, beginning April 6, when the test was carried out. Similar tests were carried on other policemen attending the course nationwide but they came up with a clean slate. A total of 87 rank-and-file policemen attended the Enhancing Integrity Course.

They Believe The 14 Policemen Did Not Share The Drugs

State police chief Senior Deputy Comm Datuk Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani said this was based on preliminary urine tests done on Monday.

The Star reported today that the 14 policemen are currently being investigated and disciplinary action will be taken after a more comprehensive report comes out.

"All 14 policemen had their statements taken and were sent back to their original base," he added.
