1. Ming Kee Porridge (Non-halal)

Ming Kee has different varieties of porridge, from their signature duck porridge to salted egg and peanut porridge. There's even curry porridge! All of which are popular for their tastiness.

Their other dishes are also crowd favourites, such as their char siew rice and duck rice. Bear in mind that because the food is generally good, it can get crowded at peak hours.

2. I Love Yoo! (Halal)

I Love Yoo! has simple porridge, along with youtiao, five spices bun, red bean bun, and other yummy teatime snacks.

Their '8 Treasures Porridge' is a personal favourite. It comes with spring onions, soft boiled egg, peanuts, fried shallots, pickled vegetables, preserved olive leaves, crispy yootiao, and sakura shrimps. Total comfort food and packed with flavour!

3. Tasty Porridge (Non-halal)

If you're feeling under the weather or just in the mood for some good ol' comfort food, Tasty Porridge serves thick, creamy, and silky porridge. Their portions are pretty decent too, with a good variety of options.

4. Hon Kee Porridge (Non-halal)

Famous for their porridge, Hon Kee has been around for years at Petaling Street serving  ol' school bowls of porridge that are said to be not too thick or watery. One of their popular items is the Raw Snakehead Fish Porridge, which is piping hot enough for you to 'cook' raw fish slices in while you eat. Talk about fresh, much?

5. Teochew Lao Er Restaurant (Non-halal)

For authentic Teochew-style porridge, check out this restaurant in Pudu. You can get the porridge on its own or with other condiments and side dishes, including peanuts and salted vegetables. They also have a wide variety of other Teochew dishes and desserts!

6. Day & Night Circle Restaurant (Halal)

Day and Night Circle Restaurant has been popular for their bubur that comes with yummy condiments and side dishes, including kangkung belacan.

There's also a yong tau foo-esque type of counter, with raw veggies, ikan bilis, and other proteins, where you can select what items you want and get them to cook for you.

7. Zok Ching Ting stall @ Restoran Double Seven (Non-halal)

This little porridge stall at Double Seven Restaurant is popular for serving a variety of healthy porridge. Some of the flavours include spinach, pumpkin, red date goji, nori seaweed, and parsley. One frequent customer shares she loves their porridge for its light flavours and homey taste.

8. Fong Wah Teochew Porridge (Non-halal)

Mm... we love a simple bowl of plain porridge, especially when there are flavourful side dishes to go with it. Fong Wah Teochew is famous for their plain porridge that goes with their braised pork, duck, chicken feet, fried fish, peanuts, and salted egg and veggies.

Whether you're feeling sick or just down in the dumps, this is a good pick-me-up!

9. Geylang Lor 9 Fresh Frog Porridge (Non-halal)

Much like the name suggests, this restaurant offers a hearty bowl porridge with stir-fry frog on the side. They even have chain restaurants in other countries like Indonesia, China, Singapore, and Taiwan.

Although the porridge itself is said to be pretty standard, most frequent here for the claypot stir-fry frog, said to be spicy and full of flavour.

10. Chun Heong Kopitiam stall (Non-halal)

There's a porridge stall at this popular kopitiam at Lucky Garden that serves fish, chicken, or pork porridge with different condiments. It's tasty, warm, and comforting for any cosy morning.

11. Pork porridge stall @ PJ Old Town (Non-halal)

PJ Old Town has plenty of tasty, old school local food, including this porridge stall that has been around for ages, located near Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Most customers frequent here for the pork porridge. However, several also recommend ordering their pig offal soup.

12. Porridge House Sentul Ah Yap (Non-halal)

If you love Teochew porridge, this restaurant serves a fulfilling AND filling version. It comes with a variety of around six to seven side dishes that includes minced pork, salted egg, preserved vegetables, braised peanuts, tofu, and pork belly slices. Total comfort food that will leave you completely satisfied.
