Closed Oriental Cravings Restaurant Clarifies New PJ Eatery Has No Ties To Them
Similar name, different owners.
When news broke that a restaurant called The Oriental Cravings had opened in Damansara Kim, many food lovers thought it marked the return of the beloved Oriental Cravings restaurant that had closed down years ago
However, the original Oriental Cravings has stepped in to clear up the confusion.
In a heartfelt social media post, the original team addressed the mix-up:
"Hi everyone! Well, this isn't quite how we thought we'd be saying hello again. Over the past few days, we've received an outpouring of congratulatory messages about the opening of The Oriental Cravings in Damansara Kim — many believing it to be the return of Oriental Cravings."
They went on to clarify that they have no connection to the new restaurant or its owners:
"While we are truly grateful for the love and support even after all these years, we feel it's important to clarify that we are not connected to this restaurant (The Oriental Cravings in Damansara Kim), nor are we affiliated in any way with the Chew family or their group of restaurants."
The Instagram post ended on a sentimental note, expressing gratitude for the nostalgia shared by their loyal customers:
"Reading your messages has been a bittersweet trip down memory lane, and knowing that our OC family is still here, eager to dig into grandma's home-cooked meals again, means the world to us. For now, Oriental Cravings has not made a comeback — but hey, we've learned to never say never."

According to Malay Mail, the restaurant is owned by 23-year-old Kimberly Chew. After the original Oriental Cravings in 1 Utama closed, many of its staff reportedly joined her family's other restaurants — Farm to Plate, Le Sense, and Mera.
Missing those familiar flavours, she decided to open this new eatery in Damansara Kim.
For now, fans of the original Oriental Cravings will have to wait and see if it ever makes a true comeback. But as they say — never say never.
