UNIQLO's first-ever megastore in Malaysia has opened today and the excitement is real
A crowd of people was seen waiting in anticipation outside the store in Damansara Avenue earlier today, 18 December.
Several netizens and residents commented that parking was limited so customers began parking illegally along the road.
According to Malaysiakini, the store was told by authorities to suspend operations for a few hours in order to santise the area and organise the queue. There was also a limit of 50 people allowed in at a time.
Petaling Jaya district police chief Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal told the news daily that people were lining up as early as 8.30am, even though doors opened at 10am.
He added that the Ministry of Health, as well as police, ordered people to queue up properly during the suspension and doors were re-opened at 4pm.
