According to their website, the clinic is staffed by a passionate team of veterinarians and trained professionals who provide expert medical, surgical, and preventive care tailored to species such as rabbits, guinea pigs, reptiles, birds, and more.

Speaking to SAYS, the clinic shared that it officially opened its doors in July 2024, though its roots go back even further — starting out as a mobile veterinary service

"Back then, we traveled from one petting zoo to another, treating a wide variety of animals, including exotic species.

"It was during this time we realised the limitations of relying on external labs for diagnostic tests like X-rays and blood work — the delays often impacted the efficiency of our care," they said.

These early experiences inspired them to open a permanent facility, allowing them to offer more comprehensive and immediate care to exotic pets.

Today, the clinic is home to four veterinarians with expertise in the care of unique species — from birds, sugar gliders, and guinea pigs to hamsters, geckos, and bearded dragons

"Our motivation comes from a genuine concern for their wellbeing and a belief that all animals, regardless of species, deserve quality veterinary care," they said, adding how these animals are often underserved.

Exotic animals often have highly specialised needs — from their diets and environments to the medical treatments they require — which differ significantly from common pets like cats or dogs.

"Treating exotic animals requires a deeper understanding of their individual anatomy, physiology, and natural behaviour. It's a rewarding challenge that keeps us continuously learning," they said.

Each group presents its own set of challenges. Reptiles, for example, often hide signs of illness until it's advanced. Birds are highly sensitive to stress and require careful handling, while rodents can be quick and unpredictable.

"The biggest challenge is often the handling itself. We'll need to be able to read the animal's body language and anticipate unpredictable responses. Comfort, stress minimisation, and correct restraint techniques are key," they said.

The clinic also issued an important reminder to pet owners: Exotic pets require specific care, suitable living environments, and species-appropriate diets

They strongly encourage Malaysians to do thorough research using reliable sources before deciding to bring an exotic pet home.

"It's vital to understand their needs, including proper husbandry, diet, and behaviour. Exotic pets can also have long lifespans and require more commitment than most people expect," they said.
