Taylor's College has launched its new Diploma in Digital Design (DIDD), aimed at preparing students for careers in Malaysia's expanding digital and creative industries

Designed to meet the demands of the country's digital transformation, the programme focuses on developing both creative and technical skills, while giving students opportunities to gain real industry experience.

"We are excited to offer the Diploma in Digital Design programme that addresses critical skill gaps in Malaysia's growing digital and creative industries," said Josephine Tan, Campus Director of Taylor's College.

"Our forward-thinking curriculum and hands-on learning approach are designed to produce graduates who are not only industry-ready but are also capable of making meaningful contributions to Malaysia's development as a global digital hub," she explained.

Students will have access to advanced facilities, including hands-on experience designing 3D models as well as virtual reality (VR) and extended reality (XR) environments

As part of their learning experience, students will get to experience the institution’s VORTEX XR Lab and 3D Modelling Studio.

These facilities are equipped with virtual reality (VR) and extended reality (XR) technologies, allowing students to experiment with designing 3D environments, building XR applications, and integrating real-world objects into virtual spaces.

The hands-on approach is designed to help students develop practical skills that can be applied in a range of digital media careers.

The diploma also includes a 20-week Work-Based Learning (WBL) module with industry partners

Taylor's College is among the few higher education institutions in Malaysia offering WBL as part of its Diploma in Digital Design.

Through this module, students will work on actual projects under the mentorship of industry professionals from established companies such as CraveFX, FusionWorks, iTrainKids, Geek Fam, Cause Effect Consultants, and Virtualtech Frontier.

"WBL offers our students a significant advantage by bridging the gap between academia and industry. This mode of learning provides continuous mentorship from industry experts, enhancing students' learning experiences and significantly boosting their employability upon graduation," added Ts Dr Wong Chee Kong, Head of School of Diploma and Professional Studies, Taylor's College.

Programme Director Hijjaz Hamidi Abdul Aziz presented an experiential session during the recent launch of the programme

The session offered a glimpse into the experiential learning outcomes of the programme, highlighting the hands-on and real-world experiences that define Taylor's curriculum. It also underscored the creative and technical competencies students will develop throughout their studies.

Diploma graduates can jump right into the industry or choose to continue their studies at Taylor's University

Taylor's College reported a 100% employability rate for its diploma graduates between 2021 and 2023, according to data verified by the Higher Education Ministry. The new DIDD programme aims to uphold that same track record, equipping graduates with the skills needed to thrive in the working world.

Upon completing the diploma, students also have the option to progress to related degrees, such as:

  • Bachelor of Design (Honours) in Creative Media

  • Year 2 of Bachelor of Interactive Spatial Design (Honours)

This provides a pathway for students looking to deepen their expertise in digital design fields.

Enrolment for Taylor's College's Diploma in Digital Design (DIDD) is open now. Find out more on their website today!
