Parents pay, pets receive.
Guangzhou Baiyun Airport is set to open a dedicated pet terminal for all travellers with furbabies
Expected to open in May, the new facility will streamline pet travel by integrating essential services like quarantine booking, pet consignment, pet check-in, and a pet hotel.
Currently, it supports select domestic flights, including China Southern's Guangzhou-Shanghai route, with dedicated check-in and waiting areas, equipped with with massage chairs, refreshments, and pet comfort zones.
The airport plans to expand its services to more domestic and international flights, China Daily reported.
The new terminal is equipped with a variety of pet-friendly accommodations, including six themed sunny cat rooms, four independent dog rooms, and seven smart pet warehouses
Pets will be pampered with cat scratching boards, fresh food supply stations, decompression essential oils, and constant-temperature and humidity oxygen chambers, which are particularly beneficial for first-time flyers.
Pets arriving at Baiyun Airport can also enjoy dry cleaning care and comfort services to help them recover from travel fatigue. The pet terminal will include a "star-rated" pet hotel designed to accommodate 17 to 30 pets, with themed rooms that consider the specific needs of cats and dogs
Passengers can easily book all necessary services through WeChat mini-programmes such as Baiyun Airport's 'Airport Pass' and 'Baiyun Pet Terminal'
The terminal will handle online ticket booking, quarantine procedures, cage purchases, airport pick-up reservations, and other arrangements based on the pet's type, destination, and other passenger needs.
This digital approach significantly reduces the time required for pet flight procedures, potentially shortening the process from up to seven days to as little as two days.
