One&Only Desaru Coast To Rebrand As Mandarin Oriental With Stunning Beachfront Resort
Johor's coastal gem is levelling up in 2026.
Previously known as One&Only Desaru Coast, this dreamy beachfront escape is entering into an exciting new chapter — now under the prestigious Mandarin Oriental group
Officially joining the Mandarin Oriental family this month, the resort is set within 128 acres of lush rainforest and opens out to the calm, sparkling waters of the South China Sea.
The full rebrand to Mandarin Oriental, Desaru Coast, is expected to be completed by January 2026. But guests can already look forward to the signature MO touches: elegant design, world-class service, and a serene blend of luxury meets nature.
Designed by the late Kerry Hill, one of Asia's most influential architects, the resort stands as his final completed project
Hill's signature "tropical modernism" can be seen throughout: structures that sit lightly on the land, wide verandas, and seamless indoor-outdoor transitions that invite the landscape in.
Guests can choose from 44 suites and villas, each generously sized with views of the rainforest or sea. Some come with private gardens or plunge pools — perfect for travellers who want privacy without missing out on the landscape.
The property features five distinctive dining concepts, a chic beach club, and a bar that frames the coastline perfectly at golden hour
There's also a dedicated wellness sanctuary offering Mandarin Oriental's signature spa treatments, a yoga pavilion, a beauty salon, and facilities for tennis and padel.
Families are well looked after too, with a Kids' Club featuring both indoor and outdoor play areas, as well as a nature pond for a bit of exploring.
