Malaysians Shocked After Australian Tourist Paid RM5 For One Order Of Iced Bandung Syrup
After being told that the drink was priced at RM4, the tourist paid with an RM5 note and told the cashier to keep the change.

Malaysia being one of the most-visited tourist spots in Southeast Asia doesn't come as a surprise due to the beauty and affordability of many locations around the country
Social media personality and TikToker Luke Damant recently made a trip to Malaysia, documenting his visits to different locations across Kuala Lumpur. Known for posting snippets of his travels to his TikTok account, Damant has also visited other Asian countries such as India, Bangladesh, and Iraq.
However, one particular TikTok of his time in Malaysia has concerned many Malaysians.
After visiting an undisclosed roadside stall somewhere in KL, Damant asked a person nearby what the pink drink he had seen other customers drinking was.
Identifying it as Iced Bandung Syrup, Damant asked what the beverage consisted of, to which he was shown a Rose Amina concentrate cordial bottle. Damant was also told that all it took to made the drink was mixing the concentrate with some milk.
Intrigued by the beverage, Damant asked how much one cup of the drink was — before being informed that it would cost RM4
Agreeing to order it, the shop owner makes the drink for Durant. While the man is doing so, Durant recalled how the drink reminded him of something similar he had during a previous trip to India.
Referring to it as the "pink candy floss drink", Durant explained how flowery and unique it was.
"This is just so refreshing on a hot day in Kuala Lumpur," he said.
The video ends with Durant approaching the cashier to pay for his drink. After being informed that the drink cost RM4, the tourist paid with an RM5 note and told the cashier to keep the change.
A plethora of Malaysians expressed their pure shock over the instance, saying that they couldn't believe how Damant had to pay RM4 for a humble drink — and that he was surely overcharged
A couple of users wondered if any extra condiments were added to the drink, which may have caused the price to be higher, though they noticed that there was indeed nothing added to the item other than the cordial concentrate.
"RM4 syrup bandung with lychee is acceptable, but syrup bandung only is too expensive," wrote one user.
Another user even mentioned how the concentrate itself is available in Australia, and that Damant could purchase it from his home country if he wanted to.
