1. On working hard: Set goals, show up, and make an effort. Doors will open wherever you go.

The employment scene in most parts of the world is challenging and competitive but as the saying goes, "where there is a will, there is way". Zain is a firm believer that with hard work comes opportunities. 

"Creativity is more important in today's world. Take risks and don't be picky. In the end, what makes you valuable is hard work."

"Malaysia is a peaceful country for now, but you never know what will happen."

Khairul, like most Malaysians, consumes news via the Internet, where information spreads faster than a wildfire. Which is why, it's very important to remain objective and only disseminate verified information. Don't spread hate and feed unfounded fears that could lead to unrests in a peaceful nation.

"When you think positively, you spread positivity."

Nur Hidayah also believes that good deeds create a ripple effect.

"When you do something kind for someone, the person is more likely to do the same for another."

Derrick is a man of many talents. He's a chef, music producer, and volunteers at orphanages by cooking up a feast for little kids!

"Nowadays, I mostly cook for the restaurant I work at. When I'm free, I cook for a few orphanages around Petaling Jaya. I'd prep the food first and we take it there to distribute it to the kids."

5. On togetherness: All we need is a little bit of love to make things better

Madam Lee has been in the tailoring business for 30 years now and she's met Malaysians from all walks of life. She thinks that there's a lot more to us than the negative bits on social media. 

"If we want Malaysia to improve, we must work together. Everyone must think positively and love each other."

Ah Tuck has made the best out of what life has given him. Taking even the sourest lemon life has to offer and turning it into the sweetest lemonade.

However, the elderly man's years of hawking and dealing with all kinds of people have also hardened him.

His golden advice? Be strong, know that sometimes you need to prioritise yourself, but help others whenever you can.

"My philosophy is simple. If people ask for help, help to your best capacity but you have to be selfless. Never expect anything in return. That's how I'm still OK."

7. On putting your family first (and complimenting your mum on her cooking!)

For Farah, her family means everything. She has anxiety and it can be tough sometimes, but when she's with her loved ones, she's better, she's okay. 

"Cooking calms my nerves. Especially when my children compliment my food. Home is where my family is. That makes me OK." 

8. On being a doer: If you are unhappy with the way something is, then do something about it

Nani's principle in life is that if you want to change something and make things better, you have to do more than just talk about it. 

Her best example, "Kalau rasa berat badan dah naik, do something ah. Ambik initiative sendiri. (If you feel like you're gaining weight, do something about it. Take your own initiative.)

9. On the beauty of friendship and true acceptance

Eric and Nesh are workmates but their friendship goes way beyond the office parking lot.

"We make fun of each other all the time. We're open with each other and we just love to joke around."

Humour is truly one of the best ways of forming and keeping friendships alive.

10. On how changing your mindset and outlook on life can heal you

Niki's mum, Lim, has pretty severe knee problems, but she doesn't let that stop her from stepping out for some quality time with her daughter.  

"Doesn't mean we should only stay at home, right? Still need to jalan-jalan and makan angin. 

"If you sakit (sick) a bit, be positive and you'll get better faster."

11. On kindness: Always treat people well. It is one of the best gifts you can offer someone.
