It's that time of the year! In just a few days, Malaysians will be celebrating Hari Raya Aidilfitri, a holiday that highlights the importance of faith, forgiveness, friendships, and family.

Besides cooking rendang, playing with mercun, and helping your parents put duit raya in money packets, a timeless pre-Raya tradition to look forward to every year is binge watching old Aidilfitri ads.

Here are 7 of our favourite advertisements to re-watch right before Hari Raya:

1. Apa Nak Jadi by Petronas (2003)

Seven young boys are helping their mother prepare food for Raya when they realise they had forgotten to buy daging (beef).

The panic-stricken boys are repeatedly disappointed on their quest to find beef, until they come across a neighbour who inspires a brilliant solution.

2. Plastic Bowl by Petronas (2006)

A woman decides to care for her elderly father, whose innocent habits start to frustrate the family.

When she sees her children imitating the way she and her husband had been treating him, the woman comes to an important realisation. Warning: you may need tissues for this one!

3. Aku Kan Abang by Digi (2007)

In this especially short raya video, we're taken back to a young man's childhood as he describes his shaky relationship with his naughty elder brother.

Cut to present day, however, and the same words his brother used to utter when bullying him now brings him comfort.

4. The Journey by Bernas (2012)

Two disabled orphans sneak out of their orphanage on the eve of Hari Raya as one of them yearns to visit his mother's grave.

After encountering a series of tribulations during their journey, a kind stranger lends them a helping hand. No surprise, this one's a tear-jerker!

5. Ke Pangkuan Bonda by Petronas (2014)

In this lighthearted video with no dialogue (just one of the all-time best raya songs), viewers follow a large family as they make preparations on the last day of Ramadan and the morning of Raya.

The best part? The touching twist at the end. Try not to smile watching this one!

6. Atuk by Nissan (2014)

An elderly man gets lost on a drive with his wife and reminisces about some of his favourite memories with her.

When he meets up with his grandson, who had been driving around looking for him, viewers realise that not everything is what it seemed.

7. Ini Baru Raya by RTM (2014)

During a family reunion in the days leading up to Hari Raya, a man is shocked to see his children and grandchildren unable to take their eyes off of their phones.

He confiscates their gadgets and assigns everyone chores to remind them what the holiday is really all about.
