Why not go for a braided look for Chinese New Year? Braids can be challenging to do by yourself, but this mermaid tail braid is easy to do, and it adds a slight messy touch that makes it great for a casual look. 

Here's what you'll need:
- Hair ties

Directions:
1. Tie the top section of hair into a ponytail
2. Then, braid your ponytail (it doesn't need to be perfect!) and secure the ends with a hair tie
3. Once done, take a section of hair and loosely weave it into the braid as if you're threading a needle
4. Take another section of your hair from the opposite side and do the same thing
5. Repeat Step 3 and 4 until there's no more loose hair before tying the ends with another hair tie

A few hair accessories go a long way in adding flair to your hairdo! It may seem intimidating to pull off on your own, but with the right technique, you'll be able to maintain it for a whole day. Don't forget to take your CNY OOTD so you can show off your braided updo. :D

Here's what you'll need:

Directions: 
1. Tie two pigtails on each side of your head. If you prefer your updo to be higher, tie the pigtails nearer to the top of your head.
2. Braid each pigtail and secure them with hair ties
3. Starting with your right braid, bring it above your head and loop it around the base of your other braid. Secure the end of the braid back to its own base with bobby pins.
4. Lift up the left braid and secure the end at the right braid's base with bobby pins
5. Take your hairpin and push it down into your updo from the top

What's great about this evergreen hairstyle is that you don't need any heating tools like straighteners or curlers to achieve this look. If you want to get this look in time for your reunion dinner, follow the steps a day in advance!

Here's what you'll need:
- Cotton T-shirt
- Hair ties
- Bobby pins
- Hairbrush
- Water
- Hairspray

Directions:
1. Take a cotton T-shirt and roll it up from top to bottom. Secure it with hair ties, and tie the ends with another hair tie to make a 'hair donut'.
2. Place the hair donut on top of your head
3. Grab a section of your hair that's about three inches thick starting from the front, brush it out, and spray some water
4. Wrap that section of hair around the hair donut
5. Grab a new section and continue to brush, spray, and wrap it around the hair donut
6. Use bobby pins to secure the last section
7. Repeat Step 2 and 3 for the other side of your hair
8. Sleep with the hair donut overnight, and unroll it the next morning
9. Fix your hair to your liking and use hair spray so your waves will stay in place

3. Wrap that twisted pigtail around the base of your pigtail, and secure it with bobby pins
4. Repeat Steps 2 and 3 for the other pigtail
5. If you want to frame your face, take out two sections of hair from the front and curl them with a curling iron

Directions: 
1. Tie your hair into a low ponytail
2. Braid your hair all the way to the end, securing it with a hair tie
3. Wrap the braid around the base of the ponytail, and secure it with bobby pins 
4. Take your ribbon/scarf and tie it into a bow around the updo

This elegant updo is just what you need if you're having a bad hair day. It works well regardless if you have straight, wavy, or curly hair, and definitely gives off a classy look. Although, you will need a few extra hair products to keep it in place, so be sure to choose ones that are suitable for your hair.

Here's what you'll need:

- Hair spray

Directions: 
1. Split your hair into two sections
2. Grab two small sections of hair in the front, and twist them over once
3. Grab another section of hair at the hairline, and twist it to the section that's closest
4. Repeat Step 2 and 3 until you reach the nape of your neck, and twist until the end. Secure the end with a hairtie. 
5. Then, repeat Step 2 and 3 for your other hair section
6. Twist both braids towards the back and combine them by twisting them until the ends
7. With the combined braid, hold it up and roll the braid downwards to form an updo
8. Tuck in the braid and use bobby pins to secure it in place
9. Use hairspray to secure it all in place
