Chivas Regal will be hosting Malaysia's first ever electronic theatrical music party
From 20 October until December 2017, Chivas Regal will be introducing ETM: Electronic Theatrical Music to Malaysians everywhere in a series of activations that will be held all over the country.
Here's a behind-the-scenes footage of how excited Chivas Collab's artistes and key performers are about putting on this show for the first time:
So what exactly is 'electronic theatrical music'?
This is probably the first time you're hearing the term 'electronic theatrical music'. That's because this performance concept has never been done before!
'Electronic theatrical music' is an experiential performance that combines elements of electronic music and theatrical production together. It is also a collaborative platform that allows talents from different performance backgrounds - such as EDM DJs and classical instrument musicians - to create new art together.
It's a multi-genre collaboration that will change the way you experience electronic music and nightlife
Imagine attending an EDM or trance concert with a piano solo, as well as performances by traditional dancers and breakdancers - that's what electronic theatrical music is about.
This is going to be different from the raves and clubs that we're used to partying at. It's going to be a never-before-seen world-class production, put together by one of Malaysia's award-winning event agency - Sumo Eleven, collaborating with key producers from multiple creative fields, including Cuurley as the music director.
ETM will feature Robert Mendoza, a world famous violinist known for his pop song covers
Violinist Robert Mendoza first achieved internet fame with his cover of John Legend's 'All of Me' three years ago. Since then, he has been covering the latest hits with his unique violin. His most-viewed cover to date is his cover of Alan Walker's 'Faded'.

He'll be performing together with Malaysian DJ, Joey G, who will be spinning his signature groovy house tunes
What do you get when you mix the sounds of a classical instrument and that of a DJ console? A music genre that you've probably never heard before! Robert Mendoza, Joey G, and a lineup of DJs and performers will be creating music magic together during this ETM party, which will last for 90 minutes.
That's one and a half hours of intense music, guys.
But the ETM party will not be complete without theatrical performances
Accompanying the musicians are the following key artistes, each an expert in their respective performing arts field:
Joy Shavini Victor
Joy is a versatile singer known for her strong husky tone, capable of singing anything from ballads, jazz, R&B, country, and rock and roll. She's particularly talented in belting out spirited blues tunes.
Dennis Yin
Malaysian YouTube dance sensation Dennis Yin will also be performing in Chivas Regal's ETM party. He'll be showing off his hip hop and street dance moves, moving to Robert Mendoza and Joey G's beats.
Jane Victor Solberg
Jane is always the highlight at every single performance that she appears in. She's a famous Malaysian aerialist who does jaw-dropping acrobatics in mid-air with hoops, and sometimes with only two pieces of silk!
This large scale production is really a collaboration between artistes from different performance backgrounds
The ETM party will not be possible without the collective effort by the main acts, as well as the team of producers, DJs, dancers, flutists, and kitaro drummers. Months of planning have been put into creating this genre-defying event that will give Malaysians a different way of experiencing electronic music.
Party with Chivas Regal at the ETM: Electronic Theatrical Music this year
The party will kick off with ETM Signature in KL before travelling up north to Penang and all the way down to Johor Bahru, taking over multiple iconic bars and clubs across Malaysia. Details of ETM Signature as below:

Meanwhile, the Penang ETM edition will take place on 28 October 2017, 11pm onwards at OZOO Club Penang.
