This year, Axiata's Hari Kebangsaan and Malaysia Day short film teaches us the significance and impact of life's turning points

Titled The Turning Point, the short film revolves around Intan, who hails from an Orang Asli village in Pahang.

Growing up, Intan has been helping her mother sell traditional woven baskets. Her mother's business isn't doing well — and Intan does not have high hopes for it. But one day, after a fateful encounter with a stranger, Intan's life is forever changed.

Watch the full video below:

Every day, Intan would set up a stall by the roadside to sell her mother's traditional woven baskets, but it seems that things are not looking good :(

Intan: "Buy handicrafts from Kampung Che Wong! Buy handicrafts..."

Later during the day, a man stops by Intan's stall — much to her delight and excitement — but it turns out that he wanted to ask her for directions to the village, aiyoooo :/

Man: "Hey! Can you direct me to Kampung Che Wong?"

Intan: "Follow this road, turn left, go straight, and you'll reach."

Man: "Thank you."

However, it seems that fate called for Intan's encounter with the man, as he gives Intan a book about starting a business, which ends up being her life's turning point

Man: "Just take it."

Intan: "Thank you. That single moment ignited my dreams and made them possible."

Intan puts the knowledge she gained into practice, helping her to successfully build not only her business, but her community as well

Fast forward to the future, Intan is now under Axiata's University Leadership Development Programme and has been invited to share her inspiring journey with the public. Woohoo, Intan!

Intan: "Today, I want to tell you about my story. I hope it will provide you with some inspiration."

All in all, Axiata wants to remind all Malaysians that every single moment is an opportunity to create a lifetime of change

Axiata hopes that as one keluarga Malaysia, we will embrace what is possible and seek to be the turning point for someone's better tomorrow.

Besides that, the video also carries an important brand message — Axiata wishes to uplift the underserved and marginalised communities in Malaysia and across Asia. This is done by using digital technology, which provides opportunities that can make a difference.

Axiata wishes all Malaysians Selamat Hari Kebangsaan and Selamat Hari Malaysia! <3
