On Tuesday, 23 May, the much awaited 'Chun Cui He' (also known as 'Just Drink') bottled beverage produced by Taiwanese food company Bifido, finally made its debut in Malaysia.

Packaged in shampoo-like bottles, the drinks come in different flavours such as milk tea and latte.

The drinks retail at RM9.50 each but 7-Eleven is offering a promotion for a limited time at RM8.95 each now.

The response has been overwhelming so far, as the famed beverage is apparently sold out everywhere

It appears that many 7-Eleven outlets have run out of Chun Cui He drinks to sell, even though the drink only arrived in Malaysia two days ago.

In response to the hype, 7-Eleven has released a statement saying that they are aware of the high demand and are currently working to replenish stocks in their stores.

But why the craze over a... bottled drink?

Before Chun Cui He was available in Malaysia, it has already made its reputation as one of Asia's food craze in recent years for its special packaging as well as its "creamy and smooth" taste.

People who've been to Taiwan are probably aware that tourists actually buy these drinks to gift as souvenirs.

When the drink was first launched in Singapore in July 2016, our neighbours down south were extremely excited and were instantly obsessed - just like what's happening right now in Malaysia.

The drinks were sold out everywhere, to the point where 7-Eleven Singapore had to impose a limit of six bottles for every purchase in a single receipt to curb scalpers from taking advantage of the situation then.

A guy bragged about 'sweeping' all the Taiwanese milk tea from a 7-Eleven outlet in Tampines, Singapore in August last year.

Leave it to Singaporeans to come up with the craziest ideas to stock up on their favourite drink when the demand was high. From creating Facebook groups to update each other on stock availability to camping at stores just to grab one off the shelves as soon as they are restocked, the Singaporeans have done it all.

Taiwan News reported that the craze was also evident in Hong Kong when the drink was launched in November 2015.

If you're looking to get a bottle of Chun Cui He for yourself, you may want to keep an eye out on these participating outlets:

Be nice and don't hoard every bottle for yourself only, okay? :D

There's no doubt that Malaysians will give their 100% just to get something that they love (especially when it's food):
