'Kampung Tengah' Is The Most Popular Village Name In Malaysia, Found In 95 Locations
You would think 'Kampung Baru' takes the top spot, right?
'Kampung Tengah' is the most common village name in Malaysia, with 95 locations sharing the same name
According to the Department of Statistics Malaysia, there are a total of 19,511 villages across the country, reported Harian Metro.
Postcode.my, a database of location names and postcodes, shows that Selangor has seven villages named 'Kampung Tengah', with 14 more featuring variations of the name, such as Kampung Tengah Kiri and Kampung Tengah Kanan in Tanjong Karang.
There is also a Kampung Tengah in Puchong, located within the Klang Valley.
Chief Statistician Datuk Seri Mohd Uzir Mahidin said that Kampung Baru is the second most common village name, with 63 locations sharing the same name

Mohd Uzir also pointed out that 'Kampung Kolam' is the tenth most common village name in the country.
