"Best GST I've known."

The word 'GST' doesn't exactly invoke a joyful reaction from those who hear or read it

In fact, it's kind of a bummer.

In Singapore, GST (Goods and Services Tax) is levied on the import of goods, as well as nearly all supplies of goods and services.

However, not all businesses directly charge GST for their food

Which brings us to this Singaporean hawker stall, where customers are encouraged to forget what they think the tax acronym means

Propped on Kampong Bugis Hakka Yong Tau Fu's stall is a yellow sign that says, "Welcome GST".

However, the hawker stall owner wants you to interpret GST as something else entirely.

"Greet, Smile, Thank You," the sign states upon closer inspection

According to Coconuts Singapore, the stall, located in Circuit Road Market & Food Centre, has been on the island for decades.

Grateful netizens praised the hawker stall for its one-of-a-kind sign and the creative way it's attracting customers to its signature yong tau fu dish

"Hawkers who don't put up signs like that don't offer those things," a Facebook user commented.

Another netizen joked that he would have ran away from the stall upon seeing the GST sign, without reading it properly.

We hope the stall's customers remember to Greet, Smile and say "Thank you"!
