And that's not all, once born, elephant calves also rely on their mothers' milk for at least three years to thrive.
The Kenyir Elephant Conservation Village has just welcomed its most adorable addition to the family — a baby elephant named Hujan!
In a TikTok published last week, the conservation village in Tasik Kenyir, Terengganu celebrated the birth of Hujan to mummy elephant, Dusun, on a rainy morning on 26 September.
"Our new baby girl! She's named 'Hujan' because it was raining when she was born," said the conservation village.

This little bundle of joy is a special milestone for the conservation village, as Hujan is the first baby elephant born there in its ten-year history
It's a testament to the hard work and dedication of the conservation team.
The conservationists said it is not easy bringing baby elephants into the world, as elephants need to carry their babies for as long as 22 months — the longest gestation period for any mammal! And that's not all, once born, elephant calves also rely on their mothers' milk for at least three years to thrive.
