Steve Carell may not be a name that's familiar to many, but you'd probably recognise him as "World's Best Boss" Michael Scott from the hit US TV show 'The Office'
If none of that rings a bell, all you need to know is that he popularised the innuendo-laced phrase "That's what she said." If you have no idea what that means, look it up on Urban Dictionary. :p
Having made his big-screen breakthrough with 'The 40-Year-Old Virgin', Carell soon established himself as a Hollywood funnyman in comedic movies such as 'Anchorman', 'Evan Almighty', and 'Dinner for Schmucks'
He also made a huge mark on 21st-century pop culture, having provided the voice for supervillain and Minions boss Gru in the uber-popular 'Despicable Me' animated movies
The actor has also been known to mix comedy and drama in some of his work such as in 'Little Miss Sunshine' and 'The Way, Way Back'. But audiences got to see a darker side of Steve Carell when he ventured into dramatic territory with real-life crime drama 'Foxcatcher'.
In what is probably his darkest and most serious role to date, Carell portrays real-life millionaire John du Pont, who was convicted of 3rd-degree murder for the murder of Dave Schultz, an Olympic champion freestyle wrestler (played by Channing Tatum). His outstanding performance garnered him several Best Actor nominations including the Oscars, Golden Globes, and the Screen Actors Guild Awards.

This year, Carell tackled yet another dramatic role in biographical drama 'The Big Short' as cynical and outspoken banker Mark Baum. At the time of writing, he has already been nominated for a Golden Globe award.
Based on the book of the same name by Michael Lewis, 'The Big Short' is a comedy-drama about the financial crisis of 2007–2008 brought on by the build-up of the housing market and credit bubble. Directed by Adam McKay ('Ant-Man', 'Anchorman'), the movie also stars Christian Bale, Brad Pitt, and Ryan Gosling.
