Played by Vietnamese-American comedian Kelly Marie Tran, Rose Tico is described as a maintenance worker for the Resistance whom 'Star Wars: The Last Jedi' director Rian Johnson said has "the biggest new part in the movie"

Tran, whose past works mostly include online comedy shorts and minor roles in short films, had almost given up on chasing her dreams of becoming actress until she was cast as a lead in 'The Last Jedi'. Not only is she the first Asian-American female to play a major role in the 'Star Wars' franchise, she also made history as the first Asian-American woman to be featured on the cover of Vanity Fair

Ahead of Episode VIII's highly-anticipated release this week (!!!), we caught up with the bubbly Kelly Marie Tran when she was in Singapore last month for a short chat about her newfound fame and Carrie Fisher
