In this series adaptation, 'His Dark Materials' is a complex fantasy genre with darker undertones, making it prime viewing for adults as well as kids

If you saw the trailer above, you'd know what we mean.

The show is filled with deep and intense moments, guaranteeing a thrilling viewing experience like no other.

Starring the likes of James McAvoy, Ruth Wilson, and Dafne Keen, the show is definitely set to thrill viewers with a powerful serving of jam-packed action, mystery, and mind-bending fantasy

Staying true to the book trilogy, the HBO series promises to take audiences on a whirlwind journey through a world which none of us could ever imagine living in. Fantasy meets philosophy in this thought-provoking series.

Other series regulars include: Lin-Manuel Miranda (Tony Award winner for 'Hamilton') as Lee Scoresby, Clarke Peters (HBO’s 'The Wire' and 'Treme') as The Master of Jordan College, James Cosmo as Farder Coram, and Anne-Marie Duff as Ma Costa, with Will Keen as Father MacPhail and Ariyon Bakare as Lord Boreal.

The series revolves around an alternate world in which humans are governed by the 'Magisterium'

Lyra, an orphan who grows up in Oxford, soon sets off on a quest to find her missing best friend. Along the way, she uncovers a sinister conspiracy involving stolen children and comes to know about a mysterious phenomenon called 'Dust'.

Based on the trailer, it seems that there's a war brewing between the 'Magisterium' itself and its opponents. Amongst the resistance is Lyra's uncle, Lord Asriel, played by James McAvoy.

It soon becomes clear that Lyra has an important role to play in the wars to come. Over time, she becomes deeply entangled in the quest to find the missing children and is forced to choose a side.

Lyra embarks upon a dangerous journey of discovery that will take her North in search of answers and change her life forever.

But of course, we're not gonna spoil it all for you. ;)

In this alternate world, all humans have animal counterparts; manifestations of their souls. They're called Daemons.

During childhood, they can change form at will, but once they reach a certain age, they settle into their final form - reflecting the personality of their human counterparts.

Lord Asriel's Daemon is Stelmaria, a snow leopard voiced by Helen McCrory ('Harry Potter'). Personally, we think something as majestic and graceful as a snow leopard (yet also very dangerous and deadly) seems very fitting for a character such as Lord Asriel’s.

Miss Coulter's Daemon is The Golden Monkey. It doesn't speak, nor does it have a name, but it's the one carrying out the misdeeds that Ms. Coulter doesn't want anybody to see.

Daemons are basically the humans themselves, but unfiltered.

What do you think your Daemon would be? ;)
