Two Malaysian Girls Chosen Among 14 Others In "Asia's Next Top Model" Cycle 2

Malaysian Sheena Liam, who previously had a few rocky moments during the season, took home the title. Fans of the show took to Twitter to air their reactions to the show – some of support for Sheena, although many also aired their disappointment that 20-year-old Jodilly from the Philippines did not take home the top prize.

Earlier in the episode, Jodilly Pendre and Katrina Rodriguez were the first two contestants to make it to the finale, while Liam and Nakagawa battled for the last spot. Nakagawa was eventually sent home and Liam joined the two Filipinas in the Top 3.

Two Malaysian models will have their lives changed forever when the second instalment of Asia’s Next Top Model premieres on television today, 8 Jan 2013.

But before they were selected, they had to go through a gruelling month-long selection process where they were up against some pretty well-known names on the local modelling circuit (though the girls wouldn’t say who), and thousands more from 18 other countries.

Liam’s career started when she was 15, modelling for a friend studying design in college.

“My parents are very grounded people. They tell me not to get my head in the clouds,” said Liam.

"Born in Pahang but raised in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Josephine is an independent and self-driven girl despite growing up as the youngest daughter in her family. This model is also a beauty queen who holds the title of 'Miss Earth Malaysia 2013.'"

Yee made her debut at 18 as one of the briefcase models on the Malaysian version of "Deal Or No Deal" before moving on to beauty pageants.

“My parents still want me to get a nine-to-five job!” added Yee.

“The emotions you see on the show are definitely real,” said Liam. “(During filming), we are completely cut off from the rest of the world. No cellphones, no Internet, no newspapers... We aren’t even allowed to talk to the hair and makeup people. We actually got told off for that once, so it’s very, very tough.”

Among the prizes, are a three-month contract with Storm Model Management, the chance to appear on the cover of Harper's Bazaar Singapore/Malaysia, a cash prize of 100,000 SGD, a Subaru car, and the chance of being the new face of Canon IXUS and TRESemmé.

The premiere of "Asia’s Next Top Model" begins 8 Jan 2014 at 9.40pm on Star World (Astro Ch 711 / HD Ch 722).

The new resident judges are Mike Rosenthal and Adam Williams. Mike is the resident photographer and judge. He appeared in "America's Next Top Model" for several photo shoots as the photographer and guest judge.

Adam Williams was the catwalk coach for "Australia's Next Top Model." He was also the catwalk coach and guest judge in Asia's Next Top Model Cycle 1. Now, he is back to be resident judge and movement coach.
