UMW Toyota Expands Technical Education Programme To 25 Institutions Nationwide
To date, the programme has produced around 7,000 skilled graduates.
UMW Toyota Motor has expanded its long-running Toyota Technical Education Programme (T-TEP) from five to 25 institutions across Malaysia, reinforcing its commitment to technical education and workforce development
The milestone was marked with a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony held at Le Meridien Kuala Lumpur.
The event was attended by representatives from the Education Ministry, Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA), and various private institutions, all aiming to strengthen Malaysia's Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector.

First introduced in 1991, T-TEP is a collaboration between UMW Toyota and local educational institutions to equip students with practical skills and knowledge in automotive technology
As part of the expansion, the 25 partner institutions will adopt Toyota's integrated training syllabus and receive advanced equipment such as hybrid and electric engine simulators.
To date, UMW Toyota has invested nearly RM20 million into the T-TEP initiative, which has produced around 7,000 skilled graduates. The programme not only prepares students for the workforce but also supports Malaysia's National TVET Policy 2030, which aims to develop a high-income, future-ready labour force.
"T-TEP goes beyond preparing students for entry-level roles. It equips them with real-world experience and the mindset to grow into future leaders in the automotive field," said Mohd Shamsor Mohd Zain, executive director of UMW Toyota Motor.

With more than 100 service centres and three manufacturing plants nationwide, UMW Toyota also offers T-TEP students valuable internship opportunities and on-ground exposure to industry standards and innovations
