However, the group needs funds to be able to travel and is hoping that the Ministry of Youth and Sports will come to their assistance

Reaching out to Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh through Twitter, one of the group members has asked the Segambut member of parliament (MP) for sponsorship for their visa cost to the US plus allowance money when they are competing.

The Vanguard card game competitor said that he hoped that he and his friends would be able to get some help from the Youth and Sports Minister as they will be able to represent Malaysia without worrying if they can afford to compete in the first place.

The group told SAYS that they have yet to hear back from Yeoh.

SAYS has asked for permission from Izzat to embed his tweet.

Izzat clarified that he and his friends are simply seeking a sponsorship from Yeoh and will be fine even if they do not obtain it

The Vanguard competitor told SAYS that some of them are currently employed and earn a stable income to support themselves. He also said that they all have family and friends supporting them.

"Requesting a sponsorship is to help us ease the burden in our lives and [the sponsorship] will make it easier for us to at least breathe without worrying about being short on money," Izzat said.
