Year 5 Student Dies After He Was Crushed Under Football Goalpost At School

It is believed that the incident happened when the 11-year-old and his schoolmates were relocating the goalposts.

A Year Five student died after he was crushed under a goalpost while playing football at his school in Manggatal, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah

The tragic accident happened at around 12.20pm yesterday, 20 October.

The 11-year-old boy was rushed to Likas Hospital, where he died while receiving treatment, according to Kota Kinabalu regional ACP Mohd Zaidi Abdullah.

He was a student of the Sekolah Rendah Kebangsaan (SRK) Lok Yuk.

It is believed that the incident happened when the victim and his schoolmates were relocating the goalposts at the Manggatal town field

A witness claimed that the pupils were asked by teachers to relocate the goalposts, which were rusty, reported The Borneo Post today, 21 October.

Meanwhile, police have ruled out foul play and classified the case as sudden death.

According to Mohd Zaidi, while initial investigations at the scene found no evidence of a crime, police are still carrying out further investigations, reported Berita Harian.
