Say Goodbye To Xing Xing & Liang Liang — M'sia's Beloved Pandas Returning To China Soon
Your last chance to see the iconic duo. :')
After a decade of calling Zoo Negara home, the iconic giant pandas Xing Xing and Liang Liang (originally named Fu Wa and Feng Yi) are getting ready to head back to China next month
The pandas, who arrived in May 2014 under a special 10-year conservation agreement between Malaysia and China, will be sent home in May this year.
According to a statement by the Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Ministry, the pandas have already started their quarantine process at the Giant Panda Conservation Centre (PKGP) in Zoo Negara — this ensures they're in tip-top shape for the trip and meet all the international travel requirements.
During this period, you might not be able to see them up close, but you can still catch a glimpse from the PKGP Learning Centre at selected times.

Xing Xing and Liang Liang have made quite the impact over the years — not just for their cuteness, but also as proud panda parents
They've had three adorable cubs: Nuan Nuan, Yi Yi, and Sheng Yi, all of whom have been sent back to China as per the conservation agreement.

But here's some exciting news to soften the goodbye — Malaysia isn't saying farewell to pandas for good
A new pair will be making their way to Zoo Negara this year under a brand new 10-year conservation deal signed during Chinese President Xi Jinping's recent visit to Malaysia.
So, while Xing Xing and Liang Liang's chapter here is ending, a new one is about to begin!
To celebrate their time here, Zoo Negara is planning a bunch of farewell activities, including panda-themed events, documentary screenings, keeper sessions, and creative competitions.
So, if you've ever wanted to show your love for these cuddly icons, now's the time. Check Zoo Negara's social media and website for updates.
