A woman in Sabah died in a road accident while her Facebook Live video was still running on Monday, 11 July

According to Berita Harian, the 38-year-old victim was riding with her 39-year-old husband and seven-year-old son on Jalan Kunak-Tawau in Kunak before crashing into a sports utility vehicle (SUV) at KM10.

During the incident at 4.45pm, the Indonesian victim died at the scene while her husband and her son survived with minor injuries.

Kunak OCPD Supt Sabarudin Rahmat said they were travelling on a Yamaha 135 LC and it was a Proton X70 that crashed into them.

It is understood that the SUV tried to overtake another vehicle at the time, but crashed into the motorcycle from behind

The Star reported that the motorcycle was making a right turn into a junction moments before the collision.

"The husband was flung onto the roadside following the collision while the woman and her child, who were riding pillion, were dragged under the car," Sabarudin told the English daily, adding that the 54-year-old driver and his wife were unharmed by the accident.

On Facebook, the live video that is believed to have been taken by the deceased victim has gone viral with over 198,000 views and 1,500 shares

The livestream lasted 37 minutes, even though the crash appears to have happened at the 4:55-minute mark.

Based on the footage, no car can be seen in front of the motorcycle before the collision, and it does not capture the X70 crashing into them.

After the 4:55-minute mark, the video shows footage of the sky for the next half hour, suggesting that the phone was lying on the side of the road following the crash.

A distressed voice of a man can be heard in the video along with several voices from other individuals.

They can be heard wailing in the video, especially a boy's voice crying out "mama... mama..." repeatedly.

The phone is picked up from the ground at the 36:55-minute mark and the video shows glimpses of the accident scene before it ends.

Thousands of netizens expressed their condolences to the victims in the comments section.

The case is currently being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving

Sabarudin said the authorities did not suspect the driver or the motorcyclist were driving under the influence of alcohol, but blood samples have been taken for tests.
