Flooding in several parts of Perak has not discouraged the voters in the state from going out to vote this 15th General Election (GE15)

According to a report in Utusan Malaysia this morning, 19 November, those affected by the floods said they are determined to come out and vote despite having to wade through flood waters.

As of yesterday morning, the number of flood evacuees in Perak rose to 868 people, compared with 642 reported the night before. The victims from 25 villages across seven districts were moved to 13 temporary relief centres after heavy rains since yesterday afternoon.

A 40-year-old voter, Zulkifli Bakar, in the flooded area at Batu 7, Jalan Changkat Jong, Taluk Intan, said he is eager to vote this time

Zulkifli is so pumped up to vote in GE15 that he returned to his hometown last week.

"I returned to the village last Friday and continued to be in the village to see the atmosphere and excitement of the GE15 campaign. Jalan Changkat Jong wasn't flooded at first, but the water started rising two days ago,” he said while explaining that he is ready to face any situation, including the possibility of the flood getting worse.

"Whatever the case is with the floods, I will still come out and vote. I'm excited."

Meanwhile, the Election Commission reported that as of 10am, 20% of registered voters have cast their ballots across Malaysia
