Following the viral video, Ipoh district police chief ACP Abang Zainal Abidin confirmed that the 24-year-old victim lodged a police report regarding the incident last Thursday, 22 May

"Initial investigations found that the complainant was performing her duties when a misunderstanding occurred.

"The victim had mistakenly opened an envelope intended for the suspect, prompting the latter to push the laptop she was using, which resulted in it hitting her face," he said in a statement on Saturday, 24 May.

The victim had sought a medical examination and treatment at Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital.

The police are investigating the case under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt

Abang Zainal said statements have been recorded from several witnesses present during the incident to aid the investigation.

"We have identified the suspect, and action is being taken in accordance with legal procedures," he said.

He also urged the public to refrain from circulating the video or share unverified information related to the case, so as to not disrupt the investigation.
