A polling station in the Kepong constituency in Selangor suffered from a power outage, causing voters to cast their ballots in the dark and in discomfort

According to Sin Chew Daily, the power outage occurred at SJK(C) Kepong 2 this morning, 19 November, and it prompted Kepong incumbent member of parliament (MP) Lim Lip Eng to visit the school at 8am.

It is understood that the power was resumed after about an hour. Lim requested technicians to replace the generators, reported Malaysiakini.

He was told that the generators were overloaded because they were switched on throughout the night.

Photos published by the media show that electorates at the school had to rely on an electric light bulb held by an officer so that they could see their ballot papers in the voting booth

Lim said many voters complained about the matter to him during his visit.

Lim, from Pakatan Harapan, is facing a five-corner fight against Perikatan Nasional's Phaang Jing Fat, Warisan's Shaun Young, Barisan Nasional's Yap Zheng Hoe, and independent candidate Yee Poh Ping.

In the 2018 election, Lim won the parliamentary seat with 56,516 votes against Barisan Nasional's Ong Siang Liang, who received 4,888 votes, reported The Star.
