MOH: Shine Muscat Grapes Are Safe To Consume As No Excessive Pesticides Were Found
The Health Ministry has declared Shine Muscat grapes to be safe for consumption.
The Health Ministry announced that the imported Shine Muscat grapes are safe for consumption, as no excessive pesticide residues were found
According to FMT, the ministry reported that out of 234 grape samples analysed from 2020 to September this year, only four did not meet the maximum residue level, and none of these included Shine Muscat grapes.
"The next shipment of grapes will only be allowed into the country if the chemical residues are within safe levels," stated the ministry.
The inspections were conducted in response to a warning from the Thai Pesticide Alert Network concerning the excessive chemical residues found in Shine Muscat grapes imported from China
According to Bernama, The Thailand Consumers Council reported that 23 out of 24 Shine Muscat grape samples tested were contaminated and urged the Ministry of Public Health Thailand to take immediate action.
However, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security stated that they have not received any complaints about grapes containing excessive chemical residues.
The statement was made during the presentation of appointment letters to 48 chief farmers of the Water User Group for the Kemasin Semerak Integrated Agricultural Development Area 2024 in Tok Bali.
