Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor has confirmed his marriage to a policewoman, explaining that it was his first wife who proposed the union

Speaking during a press conference yesterday, 4 September, Sanusi said he wanted to address his second marriage to dispel rumours of infidelity towards his first wife, Tok Puan Seri Jusmalailani Jusoh.

"I was arrested for khalwat (close proximity)? That's not right.

"Yes, I married a police officer, and it was my wife, Jusmalailani, who initiated the marriage proposal months ago.

"Alhamdulillah, the solemnisation ceremony was conducted properly, with my wife and children in attendance. There is no issue here," the New Straits Times quoted him as saying.

Sanusi also revealed that his second wife is a single mother of one and dismissed claims that she is part of the investigating team handling the rare earth elements theft case in Kedah

"I met her for the first and last time when she came to the official residence to record my statement on a bombing incident.

"After that, she became friends with my wife, and they attended Quran recital and religious classes together. There was no contact or relationship between us until my wife proposed to her," he explained.

Sanusi shared that his second wife attended the same college as his first wife, adding that he fell in love with her after their marriage, reported Harian Metro.

"I want to say that romance after marriage is more beautiful than romance before marriage, I hope after this, there will be no more speculation about my family matters," he said.

Rumours about Sanusi's second marriage intensified after a speech he gave on Monday, 2 September, during which he jokingly said, "I was almost caught, but thankfully, I managed to 'catch' the person who wanted to catch me"

His speech, which was live-streamed on social media, quickly went viral.
