Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah was moved by the overwhelming hospitality and friendliness of the people in Sabah during a recent trip to the state

The Agong and the Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah are currently in East Malaysia as part of their 'Kembali Kenali Borneo' tour, which is taking place from 3 to 13 September.

The Agong was pleased to share that he was given friendly nicknames during the tour

"I was touched when a youngster called me 'Pak Cik Agong'. Some called me 'Abang Agong'. There were also those who called me 'Gong Gong Gong', it was truly pleasing for me," News Straits Times quoted the Agong as saying.

He also mentioned that some of them even addressed the Queen as 'Datin Permaisuri'.

A video of the Agong thanking the Sabahans for welcoming him and his wife to the state has garnered a lot of praise on social media.

There are also photos of His Majesty taking part in a Murut traditional dance, the Magunatip dance, during a state dinner at the Sabah International Convention Center.

According to the Agong, the memories and the people will forever hold a special place in his heart

He said the tour gave him the opportunity to meet many East Malaysians, especially those living in the interiors.

"I met them, and shook their hands, regardless of their background because, to me, we are all the same... we are Malaysian citizens," stated the Agong.

He added that both he and Tunku Azizah have also taken note of issues raised by the people in the state and do his part to address them.
