The Sabah state government has declared 2 April as a replacement public holiday

According to the New Straits Times, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor announced that the replacement holiday is for the birthday of the Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Sabah, Tun Musa Aman, which falls on Sunday, 30 March.

"In accordance with the state's policy, when the official birthday falls on a Sunday and the following day (Monday) is already a public holiday, the replacement holiday will be observed on the next working day, which is Wednesday, 2 April.

"This decision is in line with the provisions under the First Schedule of the Holidays Ordinance," Hajiji said.

The Hari Raya public holidays are anticipated to fall on Monday, 31 March, and Tuesday, 1 April, with the final dates subject to the sighting of the new moon of Syawal on Sunday

If the Hari Raya public holidays remain unchanged, Sabah will have public holidays from Monday to Wednesday. Combined with the weekend, this creates a five-day long weekend for locals.

The governor's official birthday was previously observed on 4 October, reported the New Straits Times.

However, after Tun Musa was appointed the Yang di-Pertua Negeri, the celebration date was adjusted to coincide with his actual birthdate.
