You'll Soon Be Punished To Clean Toilets If You're Caught Littering In Public
Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming said you'll have to wear a special T-shirt too.
Repeat littering offenders will soon be punished with community service, specifically, cleaning up drains and public toilets, starting next year
Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming said this would be part of proposed amendments to a section regarding littering penalties in the Local Government Act 1976 (Act 171).
According to Berita Harian, Nga said the amendments are to ensure that people who litter do not repeat the same offence.
"These offenders have been punished by the law, but have not been deterred by the fines.
"So, we will invite these repeat offenders to wear special T-shirts and participate in cleaning drains and the streets," he was quoted as saying.
Nga was at a press conference for the launch of Hari Cuci Malaysia at the Fasiliti Inovasi Kitar Semula in Putrajaya on Thursday, 26 September.

Nga said such measures have proven to be effective and are practised in countries such as Norway, Sweden, and even in Singapore
He stated that the amendments would be presented in Parliament after the Cabinet approves them next year.
"Currently, in the age of social media, if we do not maintain cleanliness, foreign tourists will share about it on social media, damaging our country's reputation.
"Therefore, it is important that we start this effort next year," he said.
