Photos of a man in Penang, who flouted quarantine to go purchase food, have been circulating on social media
In the pictures, the man can be seen waiting in his car while wearing a white wristband issued by the Ministry of Health (MOH) for those ordered to undergo the Home Surveillance Order (HSO).
Besides that, there is also a toddler in the passenger seat of the car, wearing a fever patch on their forehead.
According to Harian Metro, the man was driving a Proton Saga and the photo is believed to have been taken at a drive-thru fast food restaurant in Bagan Ajam, Seberang Perai.

After the photo went viral, authorities launched an investigation into the matter
North Seberang Prai district police chief ACP Noorzainy Mohd Noor told Berita Harian that police have identified the individual in the photographs.
He said, "MOH staff are carrying out an investigation on the man before taking further action."

Meanwhile, photos of the father sparked an online debate.
While some netizens argued that his actions are deemed irresponsible and may put people at risk of COVID-19 infection, others sympathised with the man.
One person said, "People like this is why cases will not go down. Yet we're being careful not to go out except for urgent matters."

"Hmm what a selfish parent. Is there no other way to buy food? There are delivery services, the mum can cook. Hmm if my whole house was sick, I wouldn't go out even to a drive-thru. Risking weak antibodies and risking others as well. So selfish!" said another netizen.

Meanwhile, a user wrote, "We don't know what problems they're facing until they're willing to bring a child with fever out. If there are people who can help them buy essential items, the father wouldn't be bringing their kid along."

A person echoed the same opinion and wrote, "The situation forces him to go out and buy food. Maybe neighbours are scared to help someone under quarantine. Those who have gone through this will understand. Don't bash him."
