Phillip Among Remanded For 4 Days In Pageant Contestant Molestation Case

A politician from Sabah, who allegedly molested an Unduk Ngadau (Harvest Queen) pageant contestant, has been remanded for four days
The remand order was issued by Kota Kinabalu Magistrate Lovely Natasha Charles on Friday, 4 June against Phillip Among, who is a member of the Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku Rakyat Sabah (STAR).
Phillip will be remanded until Monday, 7 June to facilitate the investigation into the allegation.
The application for remand was made under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code for investigations under Section 354 of the Penal Code for using criminal force to outrage the modesty of a person.
Magistrate Lovely allowed the application on the grounds that if the 52-year-old politician was to be released, he might tamper with witnesses and/or the complainant, reported New Straits Times.
An additional order was made to bring him to the hospital whenever needed after his lawyer said that his client has health problems
According to Phillip's lawyer Marcel Jude Joseph, the remand hearing was held via WhatsApp chat between the Magistrate and him in court, and his client and the police at the station.
"It was done smoothly," The Star quoted him as saying.
The investigation into the case is being carried out under Section 354 of the Penal Code for using criminal force to outrage the modesty of a person, which carries 10 years in jail or a fine or whipping, if found guilty.
The politician was arrested on 3 June while he was midway through a press conference, in which he alleged that it's a "political conspiracy":
