Parliament To Convene Before 1 August

This means that the Parliament will sit before the Emergency proclamation ends.

De facto Law Minister Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan today, 2 July, announced that Parliament will convene sometime this month before the Emergency proclamation ends on 1 August

The Cabinet will finalise the details in its next meeting on Wednesday, 7 July.

Takiyuddin, who is the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Parliament and Law), said that Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has decided to call for a sitting as per the wish of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong

"The Federal government has always upheld the views of His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong in all matters relating to the governance of the country, including in relation to the parliamentary session," he said.

"In this regard, the Prime Minister as the Head of Parliament has decided to convene a Parliament sitting as soon as possible before 1 August."
