Netizens Start A Movement To Give 'Duit Raya' To Staff Working During Raya Holidays

There is no denying that the act of receiving a money packet will always light up someone's face, no matter their age
That is the reason Twitter user @amin_jamean kicked off the #DuitRayaMovement with his tweet on Friday, 7 June.
"Spread the goodness, the 'give duit raya to toll workers, 'uncle' guards, and baristas' session has begun," his tweet read.
According to mStar, the 31-year-old user, whose full name is Nurul Amin Md Jamean, has been doing this for over nine years.
"At the very least we can see their happy, smiling faces and they feel appreciated, because it feels very different when you're working during Hari Raya, so I completely understand how they feel," Amin told the newspaper.
The tweet inspired many netizens to do the same for the staff they encountered during the festive period, such as petrol pump attendants and drive-through operators
Meanwhile, other netizens also shared their experiences of being on the receiving end of a stranger's kindness
One netizen shared that they had to deal with a nasty customer early in the morning which left them feeling down.
"After that, all customers from all races were wishing me 'happy eid', chatted with me, made Raya jokes, and made me smile for the rest of my shift," they added.

Another netizen shared that they decided to buy a scoop of ice cream for a cranky child, but they ended up receiving a Raya money packet from the child's parents instead.

It wasn't just Muslim customers who were giving out Raya money packets too, as one netizen shared that they had received one from an Indonesian "non-Muslim" customer they attended to.
