Najib Says People Miss Him As Prime Minister After BN's Landslide Victory In Johor

The former prime minister and UMNO politician said this last night, 12 March, as his coalition Barisan Nasional (BN) won the Johor election with a landslide margin against all other parties contesting.

According to Najib, the "warm reception" that he has received while campaigning for his coalition in Johor is because Malaysians really miss the time when he was their prime minister, reported The Vibes.

He claimed that the policies he implemented during his time had made lives easier.

"Although I have not conducted a survey, I assume this (warm embrace) is because they reminisce about my time as prime minister and my policies," he said during live streaming of the Johor result.

According to Najib, Malaysia has fallen so behind that we are now our regional neighbours.

"I am worried that one day, Malaysian children will have to migrate to neighbouring countries to get employment opportunities. This is an unimaginable situation before 2018 and we need to take immediate action to correct what went wrong," he wrote on his Facebook page last night.

"Johor can be a catalyst for the rise of Malaysia."

Of the 40 seats won by BN, UMNO took 33 seats, with four and three for MCA and MIC, respectively.

In comparison, PH managed to win only 10 seats.

Last night's election results mark a significant boost for BN against PH when compared with results from GE14 in 2018, during which PH won 36 seats, while BN managed to garner only 19 seats.

BN's win on Saturday night also bettered its own record of winning 38 seats in GE13.

Meanwhile, the Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (MUDA) marked its debut presence by winning a single seat in the Johor election, which saw youths aged between 18 and 20 voting for the first time.
