The video, which was posted on Facebook on 14 June, has been viewed over 24,000 times at the time of writing.

Citing Sungai Pelek assemblyman Ronnie Liu, Malaysiakini reported that several MBPJ officers had visited several shops in the mall on 30 May to inform the owners about a raid happening the next day

"(The operators) were offered to settle (the matter) by paying RM100 to RM200," Liu was quoted as saying, adding that the officers were supposed to check on shops with illegal promotional materials displayed outside and within its premises.

Liu also claimed that shop operators who violated the law and did not pay the officers were slapped with fines of up to RM1,000

Some of the shopping mall's business operators have since lodged a report against MBPJ with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in Selangor, with the viral video submitted as evidence

According to The Star, former MBPJ councillor Sean Oon claimed that many business owners have complained to him about enforcement officers soliciting money from them, but "no one had any evidence to prove it until now".

Meanwhile, Selangor exco Ng Sze Han confirmed that the officer in the video has been barred from going out on duty while an internal probe is being conducted. He added that the Selangor government has instructed MBPJ to give full cooperation to MACC in the investigation.
