Thai 7-Eleven Employee Saves Drowning Cat Despite Not Being Able To Swim
Not all heroes wear capes. Sometimes, they wear 7-Eleven uniforms.
A 7-Eleven employee in Bangkok, Thailand, has been hailed as a hero after rescuing a cat from drowning in a canal, despite not being a strong swimmer
After completing a delivery to a customer, the 19-year-old employee named Phet spotted the cat struggling in the water near Wat Phrom Rangsi, Lop Buri on the morning of 25 March, according to Ch7.
"I saw the cat fall into the canal. It was starting to get tired and trying to stay afloat. So I parked my motorcycle and crossed to the other side to save it," he said.
The rescue was recorded by TikTok user @playplern and has since gone viral, accumulating over 27.5 million views and 1.2 million likes on the platform.

Eventually, the cat drifted closer to the concrete embankment, but still wasn't close enough for Phet to scoop it out of the water by hand. So, the 19-year-old held onto the railing and extended his foot, coaxing the cat to grab onto his shoe.
He can't swim and didn't want to get his uniform wet. He described the rescue as an exhausting ordeal, hanging onto the railing for as long as 10 minutes.
Just as another bystander rushed to assist, he managed to haul himself and the cat to safety.
"At that moment, I didn't think about the danger or my own safety. In my mind, I only thought that I had to help the cat," he recounted.

The relieved owner of the cat, who had been alerted about the rescue, expressed immense gratitude, speculating that the cat had likely fallen into the water during a chase.
The cat, albeit soaking wet, is safely back in the arms of its owner.

7-Eleven Thailand has also praised Phet, announcing on Facebook that he will be rewarded for his courageous actions
"The little cat is safe. Thank you for your kindness. The company has prepared a reward to give you," the company wrote.
