His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, granted an audience to KK Super Mart and Superstore founder Datuk Seri Chai Kee Kan

Today, 3 April, Chai apologised to the King and Muslims over the 'Allah' socks fiasco, which has resulted in several arrests and caused three KK Super Mart outlets to be the target of Molotov cocktail attacks.

In a post on his Facebook page, the King emphasised that everyone should be careful about the products they sell, especially imported goods, to prevent similar issues from arising again.

The King expressed hope that he won't have to repeat himself over the issue

"All parties must be more responsible. Let's not make the same mistake twice, and I hope this will be the last time I have to emphasise this," he said, adding that no one should take advantage of the issue or incite the people.

The King's comment comes amidst controversy following the fiasco, including a boycott aimed at punishing the convenience store chain

This includes the ongoing incitement by UMNO Youth chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh demanding that KK Super Mart display apology banners at all of its 881 branches nationwide.

"We will teach them a lesson," he said in a Facebook post last month.

Amidst the rising tensions, the UMNO supreme council today, 3 April, ordered Akmal to stop playing up the issue, reported Berita Harian.

"The UMNO president has asked Akmal [to stop it] and explained that KK Super Mart is not planning to persist with the matter, so we accept that [prolonging] the matter needs to stop," UMNO supreme council member Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin was quoted as saying.
