The driver allegedly held the girl's hand, rubbed her thighs, gave the girl a boxed drink and promised her chocolates — all of which are typical examples of grooming behaviour.

The sound of a slap resounded in a neighbourhood in Seremban last week when a man confronted his daughter's alleged sexual harasser — her school van driver

He detailed what his 11-year-old daughter told him in a Facebook post on Wednesday, 30 March, along with two videos of the confrontation, which has since been shared over 40,000 times on the platform.

The man wrote that his daughter asked his wife last week if someone else could take her to school because she felt the driver was "suspicious".

After the couple sat down with their daughter and asked what was wrong, they found out that the driver had been trying to sexually groom her.

"On the first day, he asked her name, then he told her she was cute, beautiful, and pinched her cheeks," the caption read

The next day, the driver took it further and allegedly held the girl's hands while rubbing and massaging them. After that, he patted her thighs and even lowered his head close to them.

"He said 'Don't worry. It's okay.' He asked my daughter for her WhatsApp number and gave her a keychain with his number, asking her to add him later."

According to the father, the driver gave the girl a boxed drink and promised to give her chocolates the next day — all of which are typical examples of grooming behaviour.

The 41-year-old driver has since been arrested and confessed to the sexual harassment offences under investigation

Police said the suspect is being investigated under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act, which is punishable with a jail term of up to 20 years and liable to whipping, reported Utusan.

Meanwhile, the father of the 11-year-old urged all parents to never take a sexual harassment issue lightly.

"The fate of the child is much more important. When we worry about dignity being tarnished, we, in fact, give power to sexual predators to keep offending," he wrote.
