The passengers of an Ekspres Rakyat Timuran (ERT) train had the shock of their lives when it collided with a stray herd of cows in the wee hours of Thursday morning, 1 November

All 336 passengers and five crew members escaped unhurt in the 3.10am incident, which took place at KM84.50 - KM84.75 between Bahau and Triang Station in Bera, Pahang.

Bera district police chief Supt Zulkiflee Nazir said the collision killed all 14 cows and also caused some damage to the eight-wagon train, reported Harian Metro.

Zulkiflee also said a similar incident took place at the same location on 31 October, in which a train carrying 400 passengers collided with five cows.

The train, which was travelling from Gemas, Negeri Sembilan, to Tumpat, Kelantan, resumed its journey after a thorough damage inspection was conducted

He also said farmers need to be more responsible in taking care of their livestock.
