Deloitte Malaysia Has Been Raided In Connection With 1MDB Case

Reuters reported police sources as saying that audit firm's office was raided for documents and records related to the scandal-ridden 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB). 

According to The Star, the raid was conducted by officers from the Bukit Aman Commercial Crimes Investigations Department.

Documents and files have been seized from the audit firm's office, reported The Star.

The raid was still ongoing as of 3.15pm. 

According to The Straits Times, the audit firm was responsible for 1MDB units Bandar Malaysia, the sukuk (Islamic bond) issuer, and 1MDB Real Estate for financial years 2015 and 2016.

Deloitte was also slapped with a RM2.2 million fine earlier this year for failing to immediately report irregularities in a RM2.4 billion sukuk sale that may have had material effect on 1MDB's ability to repay creditors.
