The Defence Ministry has warned trainees who have been selected to attend the National Service Training Programme (PLKN) 3.0 Series 2/2025 to report to their designated camps by noon today, 16 May, or face legal action

In a statement yesterday, 15 May, the National Service Department (JLKN), which operates under the ministry, stressed that attendance is mandatory for all those who have received call-up letters.

"Failure to report without a valid reason or without verified medical documentation from a certified medical specialist will be considered an act of disobedience and may result in legal action under Section 18(1) of the National Service Training Act," read the statement.

The offence is punishable by a RM3,000 fine, up to six months in prison, or both, if convicted.

The department added that anyone who tries to persuade a selected trainee not to attend the programme is also punishable under Section 19(2) of the same act

According to the New Straits Times, Deputy Defence Minister Adly Zahari called on parents earlier this week to remind their children to report for duty.

He said there are 550 slots allocated for PLKN 3.0 Series 2/2025, 350 for male trainees and 200 for female trainees.

However, as of Monday, 13 May, only 206 male and 138 female trainees have turned up.

"I urge not just the trainees, but their families as well, to take responsibility in ensuring the success of this programme," he said.
