The daughter of a popular 90s Malaysian actress was sentenced to 13 months in jail for multiple drug-related charges yesterday, 18 January

Syarra Sudarman pleaded guilty to two drug charges at the Kuala Pilah Magistrate Court.

Apart from the jail sentence, the 29-year-old daughter of Malaysian actress Noralbaniah will also undergo a three-year monitoring period, according to a report in Harian Metro.

Syarra is accused of using syabu, amphetamine, and methamphetamine.

She was given eight months for her first charge and another five months for the second charge under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952

The 29-year-old was first charged after police caught her with two packets of syabu weighing up to 1.72g at a hotel in Kuala Pilah at about 11.45am on 12 October last year.

Police then charged her a second time for taking amphetamine and methamphetamine at the Narcotics Investigation Unit at the Kuala Pilah Police Station at 3pm on the same day.

Syarra was not represented by a lawyer

In her appeal, she stated that she had a permanent job in Kuala Lumpur and supported her son.

According to Syarra, her son is now under her mother's care.

"I hope the sentence is carried out the same as the date I was arrested so that I can fulfil my responsibilities as a mother in Kuala Lumpur," she said in her appeal.

However, deputy public prosecutor Peh Fong Xi requested an appropriate punishment.
